Postmaster General visits Lynden Air Cargo

Mon, Jun 12, 2023

postmasterU.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy (pictured above left) visited Lynden Air Cargo’s Bethel location last month as part of a tour of bypass mail program locations. Bypass mail is prepared and tendered by authorized shippers directly to air carriers for transportation and delivery to rural Alaska. Lynden has been moving mail for the USPS since 1967, starting with Southeast Alaska via ferry. USPS is a valued customer and a big part of Lynden’s history.

Several employees were there to greet the postmaster general, including Bering Marine Hovercraft Manager Gux Laraux (pictured above right). Gux is an Alaska native and lifelong resident of Bethel. Hovercraft serves some of, if not the most, logistically challenged locations within the bypass mail system in Alaska with consistent and reliable service.
