awe_bridge_heavy_haulAlaska West Express had a busy summer with several heavy hauls for customers. According to Projects Manager Tim Glynn, drivers delivered a 160,000-pound PGP E-108 module 79-feet-long by 15-feet high by 17-feet-wide from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay.

The next project was transporting a bridge beam for Bear Creek on the Richardson Highway (above). The cement girder measured 144 feet long and weighed approximately 164,000 pounds.

The heaviest haul was a Cat 992G loader from Red Dog Mine (below). “It came into Anchorage last fall, and NC Machinery did a full rebuild on it. They took it apart in our yard, then we trucked it over for the rebuild. When it was complete, Driver Brian Ambrose hauled it back to the Anchorage dock where it rode a barge to the mine near Kotzebue,” says Alex Clifford, Service Center Manager. “With the machine weight of 157,000 pounds, the operating road weight totaled 210,000 pounds.”
