"I was driving east at the summit of Tiger Mountain when I noticed a car smoking," recounts Milky Way Driver Francisco Ruiz. Francisco did what any Lynden driver would do. He headed to the scene to assess the situation. "He was coming back from delivering a load of milk when he saw the car," says John Reid, LTI, Inc. HSSE and Compliance Manager. "He stopped, grabbed his fire extinguisher, ran up to the car and stopped the driver from opening the hood and possibly getting burned. He asked the passengers to exit the car for safety, and then he cautiously opened the hood and put the fire out." Once the fire was under control, Francisco called 911, waited for emergency personnel, and then returned to his work. Lynden drivers are known as road angels for their willingness to stop and help motorists in emergency situations. "We are very proud of Francisco for this selfless act," John says.
