Lynden Air Cargo joins a prestigious group of recipients who were recognized with American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) Humanitarian Logistics Awards in 2026. The company was honored this month in Nashville in the category of Outstanding Contribution to Disaster Relief Efforts. ALAN's Humanitarian Logistics Awards were established in 2017 to recognize companies and individuals who exemplify the best the supply chain industry has to offer by assuring aid is rapidly delivered to communities in crisis.
Lynden was honored for donating 61,563 pounds of air cargo capacity to support Bethel Search and Rescue's relief efforts in Western Alaska following last October's Typhoon Halong – and for working closely with organizations such as GCI, the Alaska Foundation of Natives, Team Rubicon, and other local Alaska air cargo carriers to assist with donation collection, staging, and distribution for typhoon survivors. The effort extended beyond corporate support. Employees across the Lynden family of companies took personal initiative by contributing essential items and volunteering their time and resources to support displaced residents.
"These awards recognize outstanding organizations who exemplify what selfless logistics is all about," says Kathy Fulton, ALAN's Executive Director. "Lynden is an exemplary model of what it means to uplift one's community and the overall humanitarian ecosystem. We're so happy to spotlight their efforts – and proud they're leading the way for our industry to help disaster survivors in their own backyards and around the world."
"It's always special when you are recognized for generosity while responding to a devastating disaster," says Lynden Air Cargo President Scott Hicks. "Halong felt very personal considering it happened in our own state and affected customers and people we know in Western Alaska. I am very proud of the team's response and service through a challenging fall and winter season."
Western Alaska's infrastructure presented unique logistical challenges for relief efforts. There are no roads connecting these communities, and by October, seasonal barge service had ended. Air cargo became the only viable means to deliver life-sustaining supplies. Entire villages were devastated, homes were completely destroyed, and thousands of residents were displaced without access to food, water, and basic necessities.
Lynden Air Cargo responded immediately, working with local relief organizations to collect and transport critical supplies including bedding, clothing, baby items, bottled water, and non-perishable food to affected communities as the emergency response unfolded. As relief efforts continued, Lynden Air Cargo united with other regional air cargo carriers to provide critical cargo transportation to support ongoing relief efforts.
