Lynden has achieved Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 compliance, representing the Department of Defense’s benchmark for protecting controlled unclassified information throughout the defense industrial base. CMMC Level 2 demonstrates that Lynden has implemented a rigorous cybersecurity program capable of protecting sensitive government information and represents substantial operational discipline.
"This achievement reflects Lynden’s commitment to protecting sensitive information and maintaining the trust our customers place in us every day," says Scott Barber, Lynden Director of IT Infrastructure & Security. "We accomplished this milestone through the collaboration of teams across the company. It reinforces our dedication to cybersecurity, operational excellence, and support of critical government and defense related missions."
While eligibility for certain Department of Defense contracts is a major benefit, the value extends well beyond contract opportunities. The certification strengthens Lynden’s security posture, improves risk management, enhances customer confidence, and provides assurance to government agencies and commercial partners that Lynden meets nationally recognized cybersecurity standards. The work completed for CMMC also improves Lynden’s ability to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats across the organization, benefiting all Lynden companies and customers, not just government programs.
The certification was a multi-year effort involving representatives from information technology, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Infrastructure, Operations, Human Resources, Legal, Marketing, and operating companies across Lynden. Teams worked together to implement technical controls, strengthen policies and procedures, complete risk assessments, document system boundaries and data flows, conduct training, collect evidence, and prepare for assessment activities. The achievement reflects the combined efforts of leadership, operational teams, technical staff, compliance personnel, and project owners throughout Lynden, with Hannah Roppo serving as the project’s CMMC Project Manager, Alex Taylor as Cybersecurity Lead, and Scott Thomson as Executive Sponsor.
According to Scott Barber, one of the most significant aspects of this achievement is that CMMC Level 2 is not a onetime project, it is an ongoing commitment. Maintaining certification requires continuous monitoring, documented processes, employee training, risk management, evidence collection, and regular reviews. Lynden has a long history of supporting government and military missions through transportation, logistics, and supply chain services. For decades, Lynden companies have assisted federal agencies and military customers in delivering critical supplies to some of the most challenging locations in the world.
