Earlier this year, 100,000 red jambalaya meals were packaged for families fighting food insecurity in Maui. Aloha Marine Lines donated transportation of a 20-foot container from Seattle to Maui filled with dry groceries and packaging materials for the meal-preparation event organized by nonprofit U.S. Hunger, formerly known as Feeding Children Everywhere. According to Ben Owens, Intermodal Coordinator, Aloha Marine Lines was happy to help. “We will also provide transportation of the packaging materials back to Seattle,” he says.
“We want to thank Lynden for their generous donation and for helping us get these much-needed meals to the island. It goes a long way in our organization to help drive our mission forward, and it is truly appreciated,” says Brandon Baker, U.S. Hunger Vice President of Finance and Operations. This isn’t the first time a Lynden company has assisted the organization. In 2019, Lynden Logistics employees gathered for a meal assembly event in Seattle.
