Focused community relief efforts encouraged for long-term recovery
In response to the recent storms and flooding that have devastated communities along Alaska’s western coast, local Alaska air cargo carriers united to provide critical transportation support. In the past week, large quantities of donated materials - ranging from diapers and clothing to pet supplies and packing totes - were collectively flown by Alaska Air Cargo, Everts Air Cargo, Grant Aviation, Lynden Air Cargo, Northern Air Cargo, and Ryan Air.
We greatly appreciate the outpouring of support from the Alaska community to help those affected by this disaster, and are now concluding this united phase of air cargo carrier relief efforts. Many individual carriers are working on specific relief contributions in addition to this united effort and will continue doing so throughout the recovery effort as they are able. We stand ready to help with the federal and state disaster recovery work in the weeks and months ahead.
How To Help Moving Forward
Donations are now being centrally coordinated by Team Rubicon, a volunteer group supporting relief efforts. Local community members can drop off donations at the former Chugach Electric warehouse located at 1120 East 1st Avenue in Anchorage. Although needs may change, they are currently seeking donations of new items, including large and small boots, clothing in larger sizes, hats and gloves, cozy blankets, and non-perishable items such as diapers, paper towels, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products.
For those outside the Anchorage area, cash is the most effective way to donate. Cash donations are being accepted through:
Thank you for your continued support of the Western Alaska disaster relief efforts and our fellow Alaskans.
