Alaska West Express drivers to the rescue

Tue, Jul 18, 2023

denali-stockEarlier this year, Alaska West Express drivers Perry Zemke and Jason Foit were traveling together on a delivery to the Princess Hotel in Denali when they witnessed a vehicle lose control, hit a snowbank, and land on its top. They pulled over to help and called 911. The driver was trapped inside. Perry calmed her down, checked for injuries and realized she was in shock. After helping her out of the vehicle, Jason and Perry called her husband and stayed with her until the ambulance arrived. They directed traffic around the accident until Alaska State Troopers were on scene. "I'm never surprised but always amazed and so proud of the quality people employed at Lynden and especially here at Alaska West Express," says Alaska West Express President Matt Jolly.

Jason's wife Melanie posted the following comment about the accident on Facebook: If you're someone who gets annoyed at 18-wheelers on the roads, please remember that these big, beautiful, bearded, blue-collar angels may be the first responders who stop to save your life someday.
