Alaska Marine Lines’ Seattle Diesel Shop Night Crew (above) rebuilt this loader last winter and spring. The specialized loaders are used by Bering Marine on the landing craft to deliver cargo to customers in remote locations of Western Alaska. According to Andy Raber, Maintenance & Repair Manager, the project took 3,000 plus hours while the team juggled its regular repair work on equipment. “This was the most extensive rebuild we have done on one of these yet. It’s not easy to find a replacement for a loader, so we will be continuing to rebuild these in the future to keep them running into the years ahead,” he says. “I really appreciate the efforts of our M&R team and our diesel and fabrication shop crew. Their professionalism to do the job right, safely and keep things on schedule shows what a great team we have.”
