Lynden receives veteran employer awards

Thu, May 06, 2021

The Alaska Department of the American Legion awarded Lynden Air Cargo and Bering Marine with National Employer of Veterans Awards in April. The awards were presented by the American Legion's Spenard Post #28 to recognize private sector companies that employ a significant number of veterans. Plaques are issued by the Veterans Employment and Education Commission.

To receive the award, veterans must make up at least 10 percent of the employer's workforces. Bering Marine qualified in the medium employer category, with veterans making up approximately 18 percent of its workforce. Lynden Air Cargo, as a large employer of over 200, qualified with veterans comprising nearly 40 percent of its employee base.
